Morendat TTU Partnership

The Morendat Institute of Oil & Gas National Polytechnic (MIOGNP) recently hosted a strategic engagement with Taita Taveta University (TTU), led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Fred S. Barasa, at its Nairobi campus. The visit marked a key step toward fostering collaboration in technical education, research, and innovation, particularly in the Engineering and Oil & Gas sectors.
During the meeting, MIOG-NP showcased its evolution into a regional centre of excellence in industry-aligned training, while TTU presented its academic strengths in energy, mining, and applied research. Both institutions explored areas of mutual interest and agreed on several collaborative initiatives, including:

  • Joint delivery of CPD programs
  • Academic progression pathways for MIOG diploma graduates into TTU’s degree programs
  • Collaborative research in renewable energy and industrial innovation
  • Faculty exchanges, consultancy, and joint grant proposal development

The TTU team also toured the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) control room, gaining valuable exposure to real-world petroleum transportation and storage operations. The delegation commended MIOG-NP’s training infrastructure and commitment to global standards.
To cement the partnership, the institutions agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in mid-August 2025. The MoU will support long-term collaboration to enhance skills development, research output, and Kenya’s broader socio-economic goals.
